Unsurprisingly, Chevy's venture in to the 4x4 arena performs best in the safety stakes. The Captiva is a rugged off-roader and scored four stars in Euro NCAP testing. All other Chevrolets in the tests have been well tested for adult and child safety.

In terms of pricing, the Tacuma is possibly the best in modern budget MPVs - even basic models are capable and effective for a family people carrier.

Basic, Standard & Luxury Interiors

Tacuma has all the standard equipment inside you'd expect on family drives. In the compact cars, the Kalos will more often than not come with a little more gear than the Matiz, but the real treat comes in the Captiva - air con, alloy wheels and an excellent entertainment system are all included across all models.
