Today there are two key lines from Jaguar: the compact executive X-Type, and the more full-bodied S-Type. Both provide plenty of power and a smooth drive with a satisfying roll to the steering, though the diesels on all models have won extra praise for their refined engines and extra traction on the road. For the Jaguar connoisseur, however, beneath-bonnet specs are best viewed on the XK series, the sports car with an 8-cylinder, 4 litre engine.
For executive cars you can expect the best in protection. Jaguars are certainly family-friendly, with the X-Type available in estate models and the XG edition packed with front and rear passenger airbags with the added protection of tough security measures in place.
Diesels are clearly the more cost-effective models - the common misconception being that while the fuel is more expensive at the pumps, in truth it's much more efficient in terms of the frequency of refilling.
Inside is sheer comfort - you really wouldn't expect anything less from the cars that have royal warrants from the Queen herself. Look out for the upholstery inside and all the extras such as the entertainment, climate control and more. Cruise control and sports suspension can be found on the top of the range S-types.
