Of late, Kia has released a wide range of passenger-orientated vehicles, from compact MPVs to spacious SUVs to compliment their small sisters, the Rio and Picanto hatchbacks. Engines are small on the latter models, and are best suited for inner city driving, but the reward is low running costs. The larger models such as the Sedona, Magentis or Carens people carriers add a bit extra power with easier handling.
As already mentioned, the Kia superminis are excellent in terms of a value first-time car and also cost-effective at the petrol pumps, but the larger estates and 4x4s tend to match the sort of notorious fuel efficiency to that of their peers.
Euro NCAP scores are varied with Kia classes, but special mention should go to the new Cee'd model, which gained a full five stars.
It's difficult to pin down exactly what to expect in specs across the board for Kia, but keep an eye out for some of the more recent executive models for some of the fancy kit and onboard gear. Kia's latest development, the Ex-Cee'd, is expected to come with a treasure trove of standards behind the wheel.
