Starting from the entry level models, 106 and 107 hatchbacks are one of the most popular superminis around and a great 'first car' for new drivers. Their elders, the 206 and 207, have a more polished driving performance around town, and the 306 and 307 offer a more adult driving experience with its wider chasis.
Peugeot's most recent release, the 1007, is a champion in the safety stakes - five stars at Euro NCAP with special mention for such solid protection, and the rest of the range has followed closely behind.
Buying and running a Peugeot has always been a value-for-money affair and you'll get plenty of miles for your dough. The 207 model recently fared extremely well at the petrol pumps, clocking in an average of 45.3 miles per gallon.
Peugeots are a mixed bag when it comes to onboard gear - usually you'll need to check the make and model for the sort of kit to expect. 106, 206 and 306 models are all mostly nineties models, whereas their number 7-suffixed counterparts are right up to date. Of particular note are the 207 and 307 CC (coupe cabriolet) editions, of which the convertible roof adds a particularly sporty feel to the cabin.
