The two most popular models are the Fabia and the Octavia - both of which come in estate, saloon and hatchback variations, though the Octavia is generally considered roomier than the Fabia and much more family friendly. Both offer superb control on the road, though, and the Fabia handles particularly well as a very large supermini.
Pick of the bunch on the Skoda range is the rather snazzy-looking Roomster. This MPV-come-minivan scored best on Euro NCAP tests for adult and child, and comes with airbags as standard. It's also one of the most secure Skodas available, with deadlocks on all models.
Fabia is by no means an entry-level supermini, but you'll get plenty of drive for your money, whereas Octavia provides a generous price for a family car, and even on the large engines the average fuel economy is more than satisfactory.
For the best specs inside, look no further than the Skoda Superb - the large saloon comes in a range of trims and you can expect plenty of standard features plus extra gadgets and gizmos included. Under the bonnet, second generation Fabias and Octavias range from between 1-2 litres on petrol and also include some high-performance diesel motors in their range.
