Drivers with nearly new cars are being urged to introduce at-work driving best practice policies and procedures today, as the Decade of Action for Road Safety begins.
Presently, 1.3 million people are killed on the world's roads each year, a figure which is predicted to rise to 1.9 million by 2020.
The UN Decade of Action for Road Safety aims to save five million lives and prevent 50 million injuries.
So RoadSafe has launched a Driving for Better Business campaign, which aims to promote the UN's plans.
Adrian Walsh, director of the campaign and of RoadSafe, said: "With up to 30 per cent of all road crashes estimated to be work-related it means that worldwide if other organisations adopted the safety focus of our business champions then millions of lives would be saved over the decade and the lives of millions of other people would not be blighted by injuries caused in road crashes."
IAM, a road safety charity, wants to reduce the number of deaths on UK roads to just 1,000 per year by 2020, which will save 1,000 lives in the next ten years and launched a ten-year campaign to this effect.
