Motorists shopping at used car supermarkets have the main priority of sticking to the budget, research has shown.
According to Carmony.co.uk, shoppers will forgo their ideal colour, size and style, instead opting to make sure the car is the right price first and foremost.
The research also shows an increase in interest of petrol electric hybrid card, with 32 percent more searches this year compared to last.
"Although Britain was gripped by recession at the start of 2010, the long term impact of the country's economic difficulties hasn’t gone away," said Neil Packham at Carmony.co.uk.
He pointed out changes in the last year such as the new coalition government, a rise in tax, VAT and fuel duty, and job cuts, which mean that many people are confined to a tight budget.
Insurance costs are also putting pressure on Brits shopping for nearly new cars, as research from What Car? revealed recently that 80 percent of motorists have seen an increase in their policies.
