Motorists shopping for electric nearly new cars may be interested to hear that Toyota has been revealed to be the top choice in a new study.
According to a joint report by Automotive Business Intelligence company EurotaxGlass's and UK-based marketing and research institute Harris Interactive, Toyota is the most widely recognised brand for hybrid and electric cars.
Around 30 percent of those surveyed showed an interest in electric or hybrid vehicles. And when asked to name an electric or hybrid brand, 15 percent cited Toyota, with only six percent naming the closest rival hybrid manufacturer.
And the research also showed Toyota's award-winning Prius to be well-known by many shoppers, as 16 percent highlighted it when asked to name a hybrid or electric motor.
Toyota said: "The openness of the consumer towards alternative powertrains is much higher than the current market shares of these powertrain types.
"And this is true across all the major European markets."
Drivers looking for electric motors at used car supermarkets may also be interested in Ecovelocity, an event that will showcase the latest models and prototypes of electric, hybrid and low carbon motors between September 8th and 11th at Battersea Power Station.
