The name 'Volvo' itself comes from the Latin for 'I roll' - from the same root as 'revolve'. Volvo is currently owned by the American powerhouse Ford Motors, which means that Volvo enjoys the financial security and resources it needs to innovate, and to invest heavily in research and development so the y can consistently produce groundbreaking new cars, like the XC90, the V70 and of course the S40. Founded in 1927 in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, Volvo's long history is one filled with achievement, modernism, and automotive landmarks, and the modern cars are highly desirable and great to drive.
