They are often used as a more efficient storage solution, especially for larger amounts of data. However, for compatibility with older browsers, some scripts may still use traditional cookies as a fallback option. For the purposes of this page, we will refer to all these technologies collectively as "cookies".

Cookie FAQs

If you've never heard of cookies before, here's some useful information.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data which is sent from a website, and then stored in a users web browser. If you then leave that website and return to it later, the data stored in the cookie can be retrieved by the website and give details on the users previous activity.

An example of one in action

When you go on to a website and sign in, there's sometimes a tick box with something like "Remember me?" next to it. When the box is ticked, the website will place a cookie on your device, so when you revisit the website it knows you have logged in already and so you don't have to do it again.

How do I stop cookies?

Cookies make websites work better, and sometimes removing them will stop that website from functioning. However if you wish to learn more about stopping cookies, including those set by Direct Cars, then information on how to do so can be found here.

I've found a cookie that's been set by Direct Cars, but it's not listed on this page
