Direct Cars sponsor the NHS Hero Award at the Peak FM Awards 2020.

For nearly 25 years Direct Cars has operated in the Derbyshire and South Yorkshire area. As the region’s original car supermarket, we have had the pleasure of serving tens of thousands of customers in our local community, from all walks of life. In a community it is clear everyone has a part to play.

It is in difficult times a community pulls together, and if any time in our history has shown this to be true it is the current COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it be getting shopping for elderly neighbours, arranging online social events or making phone calls to provide friendly reassurance to the vulnerable, people have been rising to assist one another.

However, whilst many have been staying at home to save lives, many others have been leaving the safety of their homes to do so. Everyday thousands of nurses, doctors, pharmacists, hard-working cleaners, clerical staff, porters and amazing volunteers have been helping our NHS cope during this time of national crisis. The NHS is full of brave and caring people who continue to make our nation proud.

But even in difficult times, exceptional people shine, and we would like to acknowledge that. That is why this year we are supporting the NHS Hero Award at the Peak FM Awards 2020. The Peak FM Awards are an annual celebration of truly remarkable people across North East Derbyshire, with several categories to choose from. This year it will be held as a virtual ceremony, assisted by on-air broadcast and online streaming to maintain social distancing.

Whilst we want to recognise all the brave and caring heroes in the NHS with this award, we’re encouraging everyone to look within their community and nominate their NHS Hero – someone exceptional who they feel should be recognised for the help they’ve given and the work they have been doing.

Nominations are open until Sunday 31st May at 11:59pm and the judging panel will consider every nomination received as well as inviting nominations from other bodies and researching local news stories where relevant.

This award is the least we can do and we intend to ensure that we continue to support our NHS key workers in the best way our business can – not just now, but in the future.

So please, get nominating!
